Charles J. “Charlie” Crespi, 82, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at his home in Natick, MA surrounded by family. He was born on January 3, 1931, in Roxbury, MA to the late Charles B., originally from Northern Italy, and Anna M. (Boretti) Crespi from Boston, MA. Charlie grew up in Roxbury, MA and graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School. After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy and served in Korea during the Korean War as one of the “Chosin Few”, in the Chosin Reservoir Campaign. He was discharged in 1952, married his wife and settled in Natick, MA. He began his 40-year career as a mason/bricklayer, where his work was truly admired by all clients. In his younger years, Charlie enjoyed gardening, especially to share the fruits of his labor with neighbors and family. He also enjoyed attending his children’s sporting events, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially with his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most of the times spent together involved sharing Charlie’s affinity for food, especially Italian food, such as homemade pizza, and that love has been passed on to all generations. More recently, he enjoyed peaceful afternoons making puzzles, his visits to the track with his friends to “feed the dogs/ponies” and spending time with his mall walking crew. He will be dearly missed by all of us. Charlie is survived by his spouse of almost 60 years, Theresa A. (Kelly) Crespi, of Natick. He was the brother of Mary Lucchese of Holbrook, Virginia Dostie of Randolph and the late Peter Crespi of Randolph. He was the loving father to his son Frank and his wife Sandi of Natick, his daughter Karen Clougher of Natick, his son Chuck and his wife June of Canton, MA, his daughter Lyn Crespi and her husband Tim Harrison of Tennessee, his daughter Gayle Soma and her husband Andrew of Natick, and his son Neal and his wife Meredith of Hingham, MA. “Grumpy” also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, Natick, MA at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 8, 2013. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the VNA Care Network & Hospice?Development Office, 5 Federal St., Danvers, MA 01923, or the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
