ST. LOUIS, MO: Rita F. (England) McCaffrey, age 78, a former longtime Brockton resident, died on July 22, 2012, at her Kirkwood, MO home.
Born, raised and educated in Dorchester, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Rita (Smith) England. She worked as an office clerk in Boston prior to marrying and making a home for her family in Brockton in 1960.
Rita was employed in the Anesthesia Department at Cardinal Cushing Hospital in Stoughton until her retirement in 1997. She moved to Titusville, Florida, later that same year and had recently settled in the Kirkwood section of St. Louis. A cheerful and outgoing lady, she was devoted to her family and a steadfast friend. Rita had been a devout Baptist and was fond of her pet cat, Lily.
She is survived by a daughter, Rita Hunt and her husband Tom of St. Louis; two sons, Kenneth of Middleborough, and Frank and his wife Patricia of Middleborough; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Howland and her husband Raymond of Buxton, ME; and two brothers, Daniel England of Natick and the Rev. Michael Branham of Norton, VT. She was also the sister of the late Dianne Hobgen.
A memorial service will be held at the Avon Baptist Church, 119 North Main Street, Avon, MA, on Sunday, August 26th at 3:00p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
